Tregion Startup Invest 2 AB has completed its first investment round and now welcomes almost 30 new investors from Dalarna, Gävleborg and Västernorrland. The fact that as many as 35 percent of them are women stands out in an industry that is still dominated by men. It is a clear signal that something is changing.
The positive response shows that there is a growing interest in investing in start-ups outside the big cities. More and more people see the potential of supporting innovation close to home - not least in Dalarna.
One of the recent investors in Dalarna is Erik Dalin:
- I love being in an environment where innovation and business development meet, and Tregion 2 is just that. I'm really looking forward to the opportunity to invest in talented and creative entrepreneurs and support them with my broad experience in product development. Helping them navigate the complex journey from smart idea to commercial success is something I am really passionate about.
Johan Sellner, CEO of Tregion Startup Invest, also sees clear benefits in building a strong local network:
- When investors come from different backgrounds and experiences, they see different opportunities and can make smarter decisions together. If we want more businesses to grow in a sustainable way, we need more perspectives. We are really looking forward to more people joining us to strengthen entrepreneurship here in the region," says Johan Sellner, CEO of Tregion Startup Invest.
A broader investor network not only creates more funding opportunities, it also brings a greater diversity of perspectives and experiences. It makes it easier to discover new ideas and make wise decisions that strengthen entrepreneurship in the region.
- When investors come from different backgrounds, they see different opportunities and can make even wiser decisions together. It is important to include more voices and perspectives if we want to create sustainable growth," says Johan Sellner.
He is particularly pleased with the strong engagement in Dalarna:
- We are so happy that we have received 10 new investors from Dalarna. It strengthens our network considerably. More are welcome to join - we know that there are many who both want and can contribute.
Tregion Startup Invest fills a gap. Today, a large part of venture capital goes to big cities, making it harder for young companies in other parts of the country to grow. With more investors from Dalarna, for example, more innovations will have a chance to go all the way - from idea to market.
And it's not too late to join.
It is possible to join until May 26.
