How can we create a better future through AI and digitalization?

On March 20, Dalarna Science Park organized a new edition of Dalarna Talks, a series of seminars aimed at inspiring and informing about the latest developments. This time, the theme was digitalization and AI, and how to use these technologies to create a better future.

Paulina Modlitba, one of Sweden's leading voices in technology and innovation, opened the seminar with a talk on AI and digitalization. She emphasized that AI is not just a technical issue, but also a question of how we live and work. "AI is human," she said, suggesting that it is a technology that can help us become more creative and efficient.

Paulina also shared some concrete examples of how AI can be used in different contexts, from creating agents that can help us with different tasks to developing new products and services.

Paulina also shared her recent trip to the US, where she visited the South by Southwest trade show. There, she scouted the latest trends in AI and digitization, and shared her insights on what will happen in the future.

"I think we need to not only learn new things, but also 'unlearn'," said Paulina. "We have 25 years of digital know-how and assumptions about how technology works that creates a bit of a narrow box that makes us also think that AI works the same way." She said we need to be prepared to change our mental models and learn to see AI as a technology that can help us become more creative and efficient.

We took the advice and tested AI right away. Using the Klang tool, we transcribed and summarized the Dalarna Talks on 20 March 2025 into a news story. We then adjusted the spelling of names and removed unnecessary subheadings. The result? What you are reading right now!

The panel on digitalization in Dalarna

After Paulina's presentation, it was time for the panel to discuss how digitalization and AI can be used in Dalarna. The panel consisted of Ronny Modigs, Regimental Commander at Dalaregementet, Carl Romlin, Expansion Manager at Eko Datacenter, and Stefan Rodheim, who works with digital transformation at Dalarna Science Park.

Together with moderator Angelica Ekholm, they discussed how digitalization and AI can be used in different areas, from the Armed Forces to how it affects the development of data centers and business.

Stefan Rodheim also talked about Dalarna Science Park's digital offer, which aims to help companies in Dalarna develop their digital skills and use digitalization to create new business opportunities.

Digitization is not just a technological issue

During the seminar, the panel stressed that digitalization is not only a technical issue, but also a question of leadership and culture. "We need to be responsive and gather ideas from across the organization to use AI effectively," said Carl Romlin.

Stefan Rodheim agreed, adding that "digitalization is not only about introducing new technologies, but also about changing the way we work and how we look at skills".

The Armed Forces and digitalization

Ronny Modigs talked about how the Armed Forces are working with digitalization and AI, and how these technologies can be used to improve the Armed Forces' capabilities. "We are working on introducing new technologies, but we also need to make sure we have the right skills and culture to use them effectively," he said.

The digital broadcast was followed by a Q&A session for the audience, and many questions were received. The panel answered questions on everything from how to use AI in business to how to protect yourself against cyber threats.
