During Dalarna Innovation Days 2025, the focus will be on the future and not least on the opportunities offered by the circular economy. In several program points, participants will learn how residual products can become resources, how old systems are challenged and how sustainability becomes a driving force for innovation. This is for those who want to rethink materials, business models and value chains.

Here we highlight three events with a particular focus on circularity open to all and free to follow, both on site and digitally.

From food waste to food win - innovations that make a difference

Tuesday, October 21, 09:30-12:00
Location: Dalarna Science Park, Borlänge

Food waste is a huge loss both economically and environmentally. But what if we instead see waste as a starting point for new business models? During this morning, you will meet star chef and sustainability pioneer Paul Svensson, who will share concrete examples from both his own business and the global scene.
Together with local producers, such as Murboannas and Stora Skedvi Mejeri, we will explore how residual products can become delicacies - and how circular food innovation can contribute to a more robust food system.
There will also be tastings, future forecasting and lots of inspiration for those who want to reduce waste and create value from what was previously lost.

Swedish wool - from forgotten by-product to future resource

Friday, October 24, 10:00-12:00
Location: Dalarna Science Park + online

Wool is a natural resource that has long been seen as waste in large parts of Sweden, but is highlighted here as one of the keys to a more sustainable textile industry. During this inspiring morning, we meet actors in the Swedish Wool Initiative, who show how Swedish wool can be utilized, from sheep to finished product.
There will be lectures, talks, film screenings and an exhibition with prototypes in everything from fashion to furniture design. Here you will get an insight into how circular ideas can drive both innovation and industrial change, without losing the soul of the craft.

Exploring circular opportunities

Friday, October 24, 13:00-15:00
Location: Dalarna Science Park + online

What happens when companies stop seeing sustainability as a cost and start seeing it as a business strategy? In this workshop with Greengoat, you will get concrete tools to identify hidden resources, rethink business models and strengthen competitiveness through circular thinking.
Backed by research and examples from different industries, Åsa, Karin and Johan will show you how to turn waste into value, step by step, and future-proof your business without depleting the planet's resources.
You will also learn how Region Dalarna can support your business, whether you are just starting to explore circularity, or are already on your way.
