Dalarna took place in Almedalen on Thursday
On Thursday, for the third year in a row, Dalarna Science Park held a seminar on site in Almedalen. As in previous years, the theme was Dalarna's position as Sweden's next growth region. In attendance for speeches and panel discussions were the government's special investigator Peter Larsson, Hitachi Energy's Martin Sangve, Member of Parliament Ulrika Liljeberg (C), from Dalabänken, Swedbank's Jens Skaring and County Governor Helena Höij. A packed hall in Visby, with listeners from the Riksdag, the government, county administrative boards and the business community, listened curiously as the conditions for growth in Dalarna were discussed. Although there are challenges, everyone on and off the stage seemed to agree that Dalarna is the country's next growth region.
During the Almedalen Week, Dalarna Science Park, the innovation arena for the whole of Dalarna, is active in pursuing issues that benefit the county's business community and regional development. As a participant in panel debates and discussions, but also through its own organized seminar, the light is shone on the strong growth that is currently taking place in Dalarna, its opportunities and challenges.
- I am extremely proud to have the opportunity to talk about Dalarna and the expansive phase we are in, for the third year in a row, to decision-makers and representatives from all parts of our country, here in Almedalen. What few people know is that we have come so far in our region. In Dalarna, it is not only new companies that want to establish themselves. In Dalarna, billions of orders are also flowing in to existing companies. This is Sweden's next growth region," says Angelica Ekholm, CEO of Dalarna Science Park.
This year's seminar raised issues such as how housing and infrastructure can find faster and more efficient solutions to meet future demand. This is when tens of thousands of people will have their new workplace somewhere in Dalarna in the coming years. The County Administrative Board is expected to play a crucial role in finding new methods that can deliver faster results.
- I see both great faith in the future and the power to develop throughout Dalarna. The investments made in the county are proof of the world-leading knowledge and production that exists in both small and large companies. Dalarna's industrial history is a solid foundation on which to build, as is the entrepreneurship that also exists here," says County Governor Helena Höij.
