DalaCapital AB, a wholly owned subsidiary of Dalarna Science Park, continues to invest in innovative early-stage growth companies. Its latest investment of 500,000 Swedish kronor goes to Parkera i Sverige AB, which has developed a parking app and a unique parking hub where parking lot owners can own and control their data, as well as track and increase their revenue.
The company is relatively new, but the system has been in development for a long time and helps solve the problem of having to use multiple different apps in the same city. The platform already handles approximately 1.8 million tickets per year and is used by around 130,000 active app users. It is modular in design and also features ready-made integrations, including camera-based parking, electric vehicle charging, and bike lockers.
The capital from DalaCapital will be used to further expand the infrastructure, develop features that strengthen the company’s competitiveness and unique value proposition, ramp up sales and marketing efforts, and further develop parking management features supported by AI analysis.
“Our goal is to give municipalities and parking companies full control over their data and revenue. With the right digital infrastructure, we can create a more sustainable and user-friendly parking service,” says Johan Olérs, CEO and Head of Marketing at Parkera i Sverige AB.
The initiative is in line with DalaCapital’s mission to support companies that contribute to sustainable growth in the region.
“Parkera i Sverige is taking an innovative approach to addressing several structural challenges in an industry facing ongoing digital transformation. The team has built a robust technical platform and demonstrated proof of business in several municipal companies. The conditions are ripe for continued scaling,” says Angelica Ekholm, Chair of DalaCapital and CEO of Dalarna Science Park.
Sustainability is an integral part of the business model
Socially, the company contributes to local job creation through customer service with local knowledge and strengthens municipal autonomy. Economically, the municipality gains ownership of its data, reduces its dependence on multinational companies, and can integrate new mobility services to future-proof its operations. Environmentally, for example, a traffic density indicator can reduce unnecessary trips, emissions, and road wear.
“Digital solutions that empower municipalities while contributing to sustainable social development are crucial for our future. This is an example of innovation with clear local benefits,” says Birgitta Sacrédeus, regional councilor and chair of the Regional Development Committee.
