By connecting the entire packaging value chain—from design and material development to recycling—in Northern Central Sweden (the regions of Dalarna, Värmland, and Gävleborg), a shared platform is created to boost innovation and competitiveness. The goal is clear: to strengthen companies’ ability to develop sustainable innovations and contribute to a more circular and resource-efficient packaging industry
Packaging is an integral part of our daily lives, but the systems behind it are complex. Materials are developed in one place, products are designed in another, and recycling takes place somewhere else. Many small and medium-sized enterprises lack the resources, testing environments, and support needed to navigate new regulations while simultaneously moving toward more circular solutions. The result is caution. Innovation is slowed down. The potential of bio-based and resource-efficient solutions is not fully realized.
The Circular Packaging Chains project creates a shared platform for knowledge, dialogue, and development that drives innovation and strengthens the transition to circular flows in Northern Central Sweden. By identifying obstacles and opportunities, building expertise, and testing solutions in practice, the project lays the groundwork for scalable and commercially viable circular flows.
