GränsENERGI aims to develop local energy communities for homes and industries in the border region between Sweden and Norway. By combining renewable energy sources and innovative technical solutions, the project will meet both current and future energy needs. The target group includes residential areas, industries and energy sector actors in Värmland, Dalarna and the Norwegian hinterland.
Focus on energy cooperation and innovation
GränsENERGI is a unique Swedish-Norwegian collaboration that will explore and implement new technical solutions and business models to create local energy communities. Energy communities mean that buildings in close proximity to each other are connected in a system to produce, share, store and recycle energy. The project will use renewable energy, energy storage and smart control systems to optimize energy use in both residential and industrial areas. Through cross-border cooperation between Swedish and Norwegian actors, the project will contribute to increased energy access, especially in areas with capacity shortages in the electricity grid. The project focuses on sustainability, innovation and knowledge exchange to strengthen both society and industry in the region.
The GränsENERGI project aims to:
- Explore and implement new technological solutions and business models to create local energy communities in both residential and industrial areas.
- Mapping and identifying needs and opportunities to increase energy access, especially in areas with electricity grid capacity shortages.
- Strengthen and deepen cross-border collaboration to share knowledge, technology and innovations between Sweden and Norway.
