Food innovation in Dalarna

The food industry is important for Dalarna, for the landscape, employment, food culture and the people who visit or live in Dalarna. Dalarna's food companies play a key role in the transition to a sustainable society, but operate in a tough industry dominated by a few multinational companies. Investment in innovation is lower than in other industries, resulting in a low rate of renewal and
standardized products that are exposed to high competition.

The project aims to strengthen the innovation capacity of food companies and the development of new
market offers that meet customer demand for sustainable food. Circular and
innovative use of side streams will be developed and contribute to increased value added in the
food chain.
