Have you come up with a clever solution? A smart service or a completely new product? Compete with your idea in Dalarna's largest idea competition.

I Have an Idea is a competition for ideas with potential that gives residents of Dalarna the opportunity to develop a product or service and start a business. The competition is open to both individuals and entrepreneurs. Three winners will receive prizes in the form of business development support and business coaching from experts in various fields. The first prize consists of business coaching and a grant of SEK 15,000 for costs that contribute to further developing the idea.

This year's competition will take place between April 1 and April 30, 2026.

What value and benefits does the product or service create for the customer?

Assessment of the value and benefit a customer/user gains from the product or service. How does the idea benefit society, businesses, or individuals? Does the idea meet the current or future needs of society?

Is there potential for the idea to grow?  

Assessment of whether the product or service has market potential and growth opportunities.

How does your idea affect people, the environment, and society, both positively and negatively? 

Assessment of how the idea takes responsibility for its impact on society from a social, economic, and ecological perspective, how the idea meets today's needs without compromising the opportunities of future generations.

When does the competition take place?

The competition runs from April 1 to April 30, 2026.

Who can compete?

The competition is open to both individuals and companies. To participate, you must be at least 18 years old and live in Dalarna.

How can I best prepare my idea?

Here you can see the questions that will be asked on the contest form, so you can prepare your answers before the form opens.

Idea description 
Here are some questions to help you describe your idea: 

  • What problems or needs does your idea solve, and who has these needs? 
  • How do people or companies solve this problem today? 
  • What is your solution to the problem? 
  • What makes your idea better than other solutions? 
  • Are there already others trying to meet the same need? 
  • How does your idea affect people, the environment, and society, both positively and negatively? 
  • What specific skills or knowledge do you have that are crucial to developing your idea?

How do I submit my idea?

By filling out the competition form between April 1 and April 30.

Is there any risk of someone stealing my idea?

No. Your idea is safe with us. The jury that reads and evaluates the entries is bound by confidentiality agreements.

What happens after I submit my contribution?

All ideas are evaluated by the jury, which works in confidence. Once the process is complete, all participants will be contacted. The winners will be announced one month after the competition closes. 

Can I submit multiple entries?

Yes, you can compete with multiple ideas. 

What is my chance to win?

Three winners will receive prizes for the best ideas.
First prize: Business development coaching in the form of25 hoursof business coachingand a grant of SEK 15,000 to develop the idea.
Second prize: 20 hours of business coaching and a grant of SEK 5,000 to develop the idea.
Third prize: 15 hours of business coaching.

The scholarship is to be used for activities that test or develop the idea and is not paid out as a salary or private compensation. Costs are handled in consultation with Dalarna Science Park.

How can the prize money be used?

The prize money should be used to take the next step in developing your idea, for example to test, develop, or make it more concrete. The money cannot be used as salary or private compensation.

The scholarship will not be paid to you personally. Instead, the money will be used to cover costs associated with developing the idea. Dalarna Science Park will pay relevant invoices in consultation with you.

For example, you can use the prize money to:

  • get help from someone who knows technology, design, or styling
  • develop a simple sketch, model, or prototype
  • conduct market research, test the idea on a small scale, or talk to people who might benefit from it
  • get help explaining or visualizing the idea, for example by creating text, images, or presentations
  • start-up capital to register a limited company

You do not need to know exactly how the money will be used when you apply. Dalarna Science Park will support you in determining what is possible and relevant.

In short, the prize money should make it easier for you to take the next step with your idea.

Will the competition entry be shown to others?

The information you share with us will be processed according to the instructions on the form. If you win, your idea may be publicized via digital channels and news media. Everything will be done in consultation with you.

What does it take to win the competition?

The idea is assessed according to the criteria above.

When can the winnings be used?

The prize can be used from the moment the winner is announced and for up to six months thereafter.

The "I have an idea" competition is organized by Dalarna Science Park in collaboration with Sparbanksstiftelsen Dalarna. We want more people to take the first step towards realizing their ideas.

The aim of the competition is to promote entrepreneurship and innovative ideas in Dalarna.
