At Fiskarheden Komponenter AB, sustainability meets high precision

Anneli Morelius and Claes Granlund at Fiskarheden Components.

One of Dalarna's established companies that has undergone Dalarna Science Park's HIT program (Sustainable Innovative Growth) is Fiskarheden Komponenter AB, part of the Fiskarheden Group. The company is a role model for sustainable industrial development, both regionally and nationally. In the heart of Fiskarheden's sawmill in Transtrand, surrounded by the forests of Dalarna, Fiskarheden creates first-class wood components for the furniture industry worldwide. The company has over 20 years of experience, certified raw materials, and access to timber of the highest quality.

Sustainability as a driving force

The company works exclusively with certified or controlled timber, thereby ensuring that no wood comes from controversial sources. Locally produced timber from northern Dalarna, Härjedalen, and Värmland is utilized with great respect for the long-term value of the forest. By maximizing the use of raw materials, waste is minimized. The waste that does arise has become the company's driving force for innovation.

Innovation through residual flows

During the period when Fiskarhedens Komponenter participated in the HIT program, the company was linked up with Dalarna Science Park's Industry Accelerator. This took place during the program's sustainability section. Fiskarheden Komponenter was linked to the start-up companies Bright Materia and Allogro, which led to successful tests in which Bright Materia was able to extract lignin from the company's wood chips. Lignin is a natural substance found in plant cell walls that helps to make wood and other plant parts hard and strong. The collaboration demonstrated the possibilities of circular material flows and increased resource efficiency.

World-class technical precision and delivery reliability

Fiskarheden Components delivers millimeter-precise products to customers all over the world. This is achieved through a combination of flexible packaging solutions, punctual transport, and machinery optimized for both small and large series. The factory combines traditional craftsmanship with advanced technology: all raw materials are scanned using new technology that detects the properties of the wood, and a modern high-speed planer ensures fast and accurate processing up to three meters. This means a reliable, high-quality offering with cutting-edge technology, sustainable development, and regional roots.
