The world’s first electrified road

The world’s first electrified road

The world’s first electrified road is a demonstration project, a 2 km long stretch on the E16 highway just outside Sandviken, in our neighbouring county Gävleborg. There are electrified poles along the road, to which trucks can test stop and go. The road is 2 km long and placed just outside Sandviken in Gävleborg, Sweden.

The industry is the driving part behind the electrified road and the aim is to increase the profit for the transport companies, and at the same time decrease environmental impact. Electricity is cheaper to produce than diesel, so the transportation companies will have the possibility to offer cheaper transports and minimize co2 emissions.

There are a lot of groups visiting the test centre from all over the world. So far delegations have come from Germany, Netherlands, Hungary and Korea as well as Norway, Finland and Denmark. We would be happy to arrange a Technical Visit for you.
