We are now looking for solutions from startups and companies that wants to make the world more circular 

At Dalarna Science Park, we are now launching the Circular Industry Accelerator (CIA), where we will match industrial residual streams with startups and companies that want to explore new business opportunities and promote circularity.

We will support your work in using one of these residual streams to create new values.

The premiere round of our accelerator programme starts in the spring of 2024. Here, the industries Arctic Paper, Gevalia, and SSAB will participateoffering seven different residual streams that are just waiting to be used for something new.

How it works

  • Small and medium-sized companies as well as startups are accepted into the accelerator.  
  • We are recruiting both in Sweden and internationally. 
  • The program duration is 6 to 9 months with start during the spring of 2024. 
  • The format and support of this program is tailored to the needs of each participant. 
  • Our support to you may include, among other things: Finding sources for finacial support, sustainable business development, compliance to environmental regulations, innovation management, new contacts and networks, market exposure, external technical expertise, and access to test environments.

Residual stream = by-product = waste that can be re-used. 

Arctic Paper (paper manufacturing industry located in Grycksbo, Sweden)  

  • Sludge  
  • Waste heat 

Gevalia (coffee roasting industry located in Gävle, Sweden)

  • Coffee bean husks 
  • Mixture of coffee waste and plastic packaging 

SSAB (steel production industry located in Borlänge, Sweden)

  • Steel Mill scale 
  • Iron hydroxide sludge 
  • Grinding swarf

Who is the circular industry accelerator for? 

For startups and established companies with a solution and ability to create new values with one or more of the residual streams. 

  • Companies located anywhere in the world. 
  • Possibility to collaborate with industrial companies in the region of Dalarna in Sweden or nearby.
  • Time and possibility to work on utilizing a residual stream.

In order to make the most use of your new network and contacts we expect you to participate in person for the start-up of the programme as well as the official ending.

IP and confidentiality  

We value your intellectual property rights, and all IP remains with you as the creator. We work under strict confidentiality.

The deadline for applications is May 31, 2024, but applications are accepted continuously and the program may get filled before the deadline. The application is not binding, and you will have the opportunity to discuss with us prior to deciding if you want to participate.
